Purpose : Based on the 7th National Health and Nutrition Survey (2016-2018), identify chronic disease that can affect macular degeneration.
Methods : Among the 7th National Health and Nutrition Survey(2016-2018) data, 4,356 adults over the age of 40 who responded to the diagnosis of macular degeneration were analyzed for the relationship with chronic diseases. In the case of p<0.050, it was judged to be significant.
Results : The prevalence of macular degeneration increased with age, and significant results could only be obtained from myocardial infarction among chronic diseases related to age. In addition, dyslipidemia and hypercholesterolemia, which are risk factors for myocardial infarction, were also found to be related to macular degeneration.
Conclusion : Macular degeneration was confirmed to be associated with age-related chronic diseases such as myocardial infarction, dyslipidemia, and hypercholesterolemia.
